A national roadmap
to prevent blood clots (VTE)

 Faced with budget cuts and increasing blood-clot cases, a national scientific organization needed a clear, evidence-based roadmap to align experts and maximize impact. Experts had competing priorities and more ‘paths forward’ than feasible.

My role was to provide expertise on road mapping (logic modeling) to uncover the causal pathways maximizing impact.

Ultimately, this strategic focus helps save lives through reduced blood clots, reduce hospital costs, and strengthen national prevention systems.

Limited funding can now be directed toward the most cost-effective and measurable prevention strategies.

The roadmap enables clear prioritization, accountability, and partnership alignment, improving outcomes while reducing inefficiency.

Resources and research efforts align around hospital-associated clot prevention, where the greatest gains can be achieved.

The roadmap paves the way for healthcare providers and systems to scale effective blood clot prevention practices once the work matures.
